d.b.a. Peak Pet Pantry
Peak Pet Pantry is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, providing temporary pet food assistance to citizens in El Paso County and surrounding areas. The Pantry started in September 2007, after our founder saw an increase in people needing short-term help with the cost of their animals. We give out food once a week on the southeast side of Colorado Springs and as of February 6, 2010, we give out pet food and supplies to the homeless and disadvantaged near I-25 and Bijou twice a month. In 2010 we gave out 54,818 pounds of pet food and treats to Colorado residents in El Paso, Pueblo, Teller, Fremont, and Elbert Counties. Up from 46,970 pounds in 2009 and almost 12,000 pounds in 2008. [more info]
We are the first pet food bank in the Pikes Peak region and are dedicated to providing assistance to pet owners facing hardship. As of February 2, 2010, we will conduct business as Peak Pet Pantry, but our mission remains the same. Our HOPE is that by coming to the aid of pet owners, they are able to keep their beloved pets instead of finding the pets an alternative home. A donation in $2 increments would help feed two or more cats for a month, or feed one or more medium sized dogs for one to two weeks. Without our dedicated sponsors, donors, and community, we couldn't continue to help those facing tough decisions. Please consider making a donation or volunteering today.
If you would be interested in starting a pet food program in your area, please CONTACT US with your name, city, and state or country so we may send you detailed information on how to get started.
